Planetera Layout - True to Novel

So I have a way of knowing how I will lay out my environment I have created this rough concept of the layout of Planetera just so I can tell accurately where to place rooms and decorations. This sketch is as close to the size of the ship as is described in the novel, including various compartments and rooms the ship is supposed to feature.

Fallout New Vegas Environment Design

The Fallout franchise is one which uses a Retro Futuristic aesthetic very well. Although my intended piece will be from a less destroyed world it is interesting to see how old architecture and furnishings are blended with advanced technology's.

Retro-Futurism

In my research it seems the kind of style I most want to capture is that of Retro Futurism it is a movement which tries to emulate what was once considered by those of the past to be the vision of the future. This style would be most fitting to Brigands of the Moon.

Style Mood Board - Low Poly

Ive always loved the look of Low Poly 3D work and have realized this project is the perfect place to work with it as Im already calling back to the aesthetics of the 1920s I can also use a style which call back to a time of more basic graphical fidelity in video games.

Brigands of the Moon by Ray Cummings - 1920s SCi Fi

http://www.gutenberg.org/files/19066/19066-h/19066-
The novel I have chosen to work on by Sci Fi Author Ray Cummings, The story is written by Cummings as an exercise to explore how a novel which a hundred years in the future would be thought of as a rather bland story with an everyday setting, telling of interactions and technology's which are common place, now putting this story in the hands of an individual from a hundred years in the past. Even the most mundane event like getting breakfast could be seen as using incredible in imaginable technology to a person of the past.

This concept really interested me along with the challenge of capturing the 1920s Sci Fi aesthetic which really fascinates myself.
